Rosemary Cottage: A fireside retreat for two

Rosemary Cottage often comes to mind when guests ask for somewhere truly peaceful. It sits on a quiet village green, just a moment or two from St Mary’s Church, and less than two minutes’ walk from Arlington Row. For couples, many travelling up from London, it is a lovely spot to simply unwind and enjoy Bibury at its own pace.

Built in the 17th century, the cottage feels very much part of the village’s history. Inside, the ground floor is open plan, with a large corner sofa that is perfect for evenings in. The open fire is a real draw, providing a warm glow and a gentle crackle that makes a film night, perhaps with the soundbar and subwoofer, feel particularly cosy.

Upstairs, the master bedroom offers a king-size bed with a luxury mattress. The views over the village are rather charming in the morning. The bathroom on this floor has a full-sized bath, which many of my guests appreciate after a day spent walking the footpaths around the Coln valley.

One of the quiet luxuries here, especially in Bibury, is the off-street parking for two cars directly outside. It makes arriving and settling in so much easier, leaving you more time to explore. You can simply park up and forget the car for a few days if you wish.
